Commercial hood cleaning in Canada, NFPA 96 certified.
Vulcair cleans commercial kitchen exhaust systems end-to-end: hoods, ductwork, fans, filters and rooftop units. NFPA 96 certified technicians, photo-documented reports, insurance-accepted compliance certificates.
Your hood is "clean." Your duct and rooftop fan are not.
Most vendors clean the part the restaurant owner sees. The duct and rooftop fan — where grease actually accumulates and fires actually start — get skipped. The sticker says compliant. Your insurance carrier disagrees.
NFPA 96. Full path. Photo-documented.
IKECA-trained technicians, hood-to-fan cleaning per NFPA 96, before-and-after photo reports, insurance-accepted compliance certificates.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often do I need my exhaust cleaned?+
NFPA 96 sets the schedule by cooking volume. High-volume (solid fuel, wood-fired, charbroiler): every quarter. Moderate-volume (full-service restaurant, cafeteria): every six months. Low-volume (deli, light prep): annually. Your insurance policy and local fire code may be stricter. We track the schedule for you.
What certificate do I get after service?+
An NFPA 96 compliance certificate signed by an IKECA-trained technician, with before-and-after photos of every accessible point in the exhaust system. This is the document your fire inspector and insurance carrier expect. We also post the service sticker inside the hood per code.
Do you clean the whole system, not just the hood?+
Yes. NFPA 96 requires cleaning of the entire exhaust path: hood, filters, ductwork (horizontal and vertical), fan housing, fan blade, and rooftop unit. Vendors who "clean the hood" and leave the rest technically violate the code. Your compliance certificate is only valid if the entire system was cleaned.
How long does a service take?+
A typical restaurant kitchen takes 3-6 hours. Larger cafeterias, hotels and institutional kitchens can take a full overnight shift. We work around your close-open schedule so the kitchen never loses service hours.
What if my fire inspector or insurance broker wants proof?+
We keep every certificate on file and can provide copies on request. Many commercial landlords also want a copy for their files — we can send automatically.
Do you work in food-processing and industrial kitchens?+
Yes. Hospital kitchens, food-processing facilities, prison and institutional kitchens, corporate cafeterias, ghost kitchens — same NFPA 96 standard applies. We handle all of them.
What if you find damage or code issues during cleaning?+
We document it in the photo report and flag it before we leave. If the damage affects compliance (cracked welds, grease-impregnated duct insulation, fan motor failure), we tell you immediately so you can book the repair before your next inspection. We do not do exhaust system repair ourselves — we refer to licensed trades — so there is no conflict of interest in what we flag.
Standards We Operate Under
A Hood Cleaning Company Built Around the Fire Code.
Vulcair was started because most "hood cleaning" vendors clean exactly the hood. The duct and the rooftop fan — where grease fires actually start — get ignored. The certificate says "cleaned" but the fire risk is unchanged.
Vulcair cleans the full exhaust path to NFPA 96. IKECA-trained technicians, photo-documented reports, insurance-accepted certificates.
